Care of Braces

Brushing with Braces

It is so important to keep your braces and teeth clean, so brush often. In addition to brushing with a toothbrush, we provide you with an interproximal toothbrush. You may use the interproximal brush to clean underneath and around your wires and braces. Brush gently to avoid damaging your wires.

Each visit we rate your oral hygiene, so brush well! And don't forget to see your dentist every six months for a regular cleaning.

Caring for Your Retainer

To clean your retainer use a new soft bristle toothbrush with water or mouthwash (not Listerine brand). Do not use toothpaste or an old toothbrush. Toothpaste will scratch the smooth surface of the retainer causing it to absorb food and odors.

  • Wear as prescribed
  • Seat retainer with your fingers
  • Place retainer in retainer case when not in your mouth; retainers are expensive to replace!

To maintain your beautiful smile, you MUST wear your retainers.
